Jamie (skydiver) was here and spoke.

Paul Baccarny has resigned as Treasurer due to medical reasons

Correspondence -  Not going to Andrews or Georgetown parades.

From VVA National - Call legislators to cosponsor toxic exposure 

research act.

Honor Guard - 1 funeral last month

Fundraising: Nov 6 and 7th at Sam’s Club

Old Business: Oct 25th fundraiser was at Veteran’s Cafe - packed

Oct 28th VA Cookout at the Reserve Center - Color Guard did great job.  Mayor Rhodes presented a plaque to the chapter.  Present the plaque at the VA at Tuesday, 9 AM

VA gave us credit for hours to the chapter.  May have rep on VA board

Veterans Celebration for Horry County - Conway, 8 AM

Nov.11 at Old Courthouse, 11 AM

Nov 5 - Horry ATA, 8 AM


New Business:   Green light for Veterans 

Getting a check at St. James

Gift card criteria - veteran or spouse, if 100 disability, not eligible.  Need to come to the dinner.  We need names and addresses of those receiving.  VA Clinic has list or account of needy vets.  Wreathes Across America - we will put wreaths on the graves of locally buried deceased members.  

May need Honor Guard for home donation to Iraq veteran.  Sometime in November.

Motion for 9 $300 gift cards and one $300 to VA Clinic.

Region 3 - Life membership still $100 until Dec. 31st.

Nov 14 - Prince Creek Parkway - Christ Church - open to all.

Passed a $100 hole sponsorship for golf outing for member’s daughter in law.

Motion - to Jim Holbrook’s daughter in law - $300

Saturday November 17th - $15 pp or $25 a couple  Blue Star Mothers

Veterans Cafe - Veterans Welcome and Resource Center - Amer. Legion Post in Socastee .  Oct 25th - 12 noon 

50th Anniversary Parade - Georgetown - Form up at 3 PM 

VA Hospital - Oct 28th Myrtle Beach Clinic - Chapter will pay for the beverages

Motion - Pay $150 for beverages.

Honor Guard -  1 funeral in last 2 months.  Nov 7th at the Courthouse for Horry County  11 AM.

AVVA - spouses can join.  Save coupons to send to troops. November AVVA Fire sale - $100  

Chaplain - nothing

Fundraising:  Walmart $441 on the 26th, Sam’s Club November 6 and 7

Old Business:  MJ still has the quilts for sale.  $35 and all the money goes to the chapter

Sept 18th - POW/MIA at Warbird Park.  Largest showing of VVA 925 to date.  

Cathy Keister - Region 3 conference in 2018.  Invite spokesperson to come to a meeting.

New Business:    Motion - Pay for our own Christmas dinner.  Approved.

Motion - $250 Walmart Gift Cards for 12 needy vet families.  Approved.

Motion - Invite Jaime (skydiver) - give $500 gift card.

Review of Military Appreciation finances

Donation of $300 to Blue Star Mothers, Scents for Soldiers, and Cub Scouts Pack 899 from our surplus 

Motion - Dissolution of the 50th Commemoration Committee - passed

July 4 - Rich and Charles went to the Combat Vets dedication of the battlefield cross

Terri, Kathy, and MJ went to State Council in June.  Region 3 conference in 2018.


New Business:   Delegate meeting on June 14th.  Cathy and Terri will go.  

VVA is having a fire sale on Life Membership is $100 in August.  AVVA may do it in October, November.

September 18th - Valor/Warbird Park, POW/MIA night

Jerry Nugent - Consider invite the Walmart and Sam’s Club managers to a meeting.  Motion - Passed

Rick Power - spoke about ISIS mission he is working in Qatar for the State Department

MAD - sign up for participation in the parade.  Too many items to list here.  Ron Kim secured a skydiver for the Pelicans game.

Terry Steer - reported on Region 3.  Talked about PTSD and suicide.  Agent Orange - mostly on prostate cancer.  Know symptoms…get a screening.  Quite a bit of information.

Fundraising: Walmart, 501 and Seaboard - April 11th, Sam’s - look at May 22 and 23rd, and Walmart again at May 30th.  Walmart 17 Business and 544 - June 19, 20  Sam - Nov 6-7.

Old Business:

MAC - reviewed Appreciation Days

Car - Grand Marquis - Motion carried - sell for $1800. Passed

New Business:

Motion - Donate $100 to Rolling Thunder Chapter 3 for the MAD Iraq-Afghan event 

Motion - $100 for candy at the parade.

Parade at St. Patricks Day in North Myrtle Beach.  Saturday, March 14th

Region 3 Conference - Motion to send Terri Steer $165 to go to conference. Passed

Charles read the charter of our chapter.  Still an argument over what the name of the chapter.  Motion to follow Horry, Grand Strand, Motion tabled.

AVVA - Nothing

Fundraising:  Rich put in for Surfside Walmart, March 27, 28.  Waiting for reply.

Old Business:

Gary handed out sheets involving our Military Appreciation Days involvement.

Motion - To give $2000 front money to the MAD committee for deposits, printing, and essentials to do business as the chapter committee.  Passed

Gary will keep a spreadsheet of all expenditures and revenues and provide receipts.

New Business:

Motion - Limit expenditure of president to $100 unless approved by the body. Passed.

Bob McCann - look into Wreaths Across America for next year.

Charles has a car that was donated by Mr. Cornelius.  He will decide if we sell it or give it to a needy veteran.  Charles already has an $1800 bid on it.

Rick Power donated 2 prints to the Chapter.  They sold for $80.
