Chapter 925 Meeting - October 6, 2020

Our meeting was called to order at 7PM and went through the agenda.

Fund Raising - still no events scheduled


Honor Guard - Chapter received a donation of $100 from the Collins family


Sick and Deceased - Ray Wittevrongel passed on October 4th, Jerry Hearl to have brain surgery this Friday, the 9th, at MUSC to repair a Brain aneurysm.


Old Business - Discussed whether or not to invite gift card recipients to our Christmas meeting, meeting room is still at 50 % occupancy and we are looking to save some money on the cost of guests meals. This subject will be addressed at the November meeting.


New Business - A new member reported that some of the profits from the Veterans Day Golf Tournament being held on Veterans Day, at Myrtlewood Golf Club, will be donated to 

Chapter 925
Hector Ramos made a motion to donate $50 to the Tee-Off for Veterans 2020 Golf at TPC, on November 12th, our Honor Guard will be conducting opening ceremonies. The motion was 2nd and passed.
Hector Ramos mad a motion to donate $50 to purchase some food for Lois Wittevrongel, motion passed. Hector also donated $20 of his 50/50 winnings to this cause. Charles and Marilyn will purchase the food and deliver it to Lois.

The large Veterans Day activities which was to be held on November 7th, was cancelled by the city of Conway. Chapter 925 will conduct a small ceremony at the memorial on 

November 11th, at 1100.

Delegates - A state council meeting will be held via Zoom this Sunday, October 11th.

Chapter 925 Meeting - September 1, 2020

We had 9 members and 3 AVVA members attend last nights meeting with 9 having a meal.
At the June meeting we had 15 members.


Treasurer reported there is $4564.84 in our checking account. 


Fundraising - members told all fundraisers have been cancelled for the remainder of the year.


New business- there was a discussion about distributing gift cards at the December meeting being we don't have a lot of money this year. It was said we should give something being that's why we raise money.

A motion was made by Jerry to give 10 cards valued at $100 each, motion was 2nd by Johnny and passed.

Charles Davies brought up that our members should respond to Sam Brick's email about the future of the VVA. Members comments from all chapters will be used to help make a decision at next years conference in NC.


Charles led the singing and the meeting was adjourned at 7:34.

New Business: Charles Davies, new member, is now Second VP for State Council and will do the State Newsletter
Next month is AVVA elections.

Region 3 at Annapolis March 20, 21
Little discussion on VVA plan for dissolution
Chapters will only get membership checks once a year. Money may run out within 4 years.

Vet Center - March 27th Vietnam Experience
Frank from Congressman Rice’s office talked about VA, Blue Water Navy, new VA clinic

County office for Veterans Affairs moved to near J. Reuben Long center.

6 PM Blue Star Mothers at a church in Longs - honoring Vietnam Vets

Using the Commissary and Base Exchange - 10% - 100 disabled can use. Must get card. VA or VVA website on how to get ID card for access to bases. For spouses as well.

Jerry - thanks to MJ and Don for their Color Guard work since forever
State Council - Feb 9. talking about dissolution of VVA National. May be tabled. Report next meeting.

Jaime - DAV 9th district conference - Honor Guard presented there. Thanks

Correspondence - Thank you from the Community Kitchen, Welcome Home Center, and one family. Card from Camp Corral.

Honor Guard
- 29 events last year with only 8 funerals.

AVVA - Still doing coupons

Chaplain - Charles Squires in VA Emergency with a stroke

Fundraising: March 20 and March 21 for Sam’s. Signup sheet next meeting.

Old Business: November, Sam’s Club did well. Christmas dinner and gift certificates paid by chapter with that fundraiser. Legally we may not be able to pay for chapter member dinner as we advertise 100% going to help veterans in need.
Motion passed to everyone pays for their own dinner.

New Business: Usually give USO $100 each year. Motion - to continue this year.
Motion - chapter buy new bugle - passed
State Council - Feb 9th. Each chapter can only have 2 members voting. Election year -
Make sure you get your Real ID.
