Correspondence -
Honor Guard - Thank Bob and Rick for going to the Stand Down in Aynor. MOAA meeting - $50. Long sleeve black now. Conway - holding theirs on November 6th, November 11 - doing it with Knights of Columbus and vocal group - Sounds of the Strand. Nov 13 -golf at Arrowhead - doing presentation of colors. Nov. 14 - doing presentation of colors at 1 for Long Bay Symphony, at First Presbyterian Church on Grissom Parkway. Coastal Carolina football -presenting colors and setting up a table.

Chaplain - Rich called Jerry Hearl about his procedure.
Fundraising: Nov. 12 and 13th - need some help
Old Business: Terry, Charles, Sandy, and Johnny at or will be at the National Convention.
New Business: COVID shots still given at VA. Veteran’s Cafe - Rich talked with news person and asked about coverage. Golf outing on Nov. 12 Myrtlewood Pine Hills - our chapter received some donations in the past but we will get all the proceeds this year. Next month, Christmas Dinner…members pay their own way. Need to get names of veterans or organizations that we would give gift cards to. Usually give to Veterans Cafe, VA Social Workers, Freedom Fido’s. Motion for 8 Walmart gift cards at $200. Looking at 4 organizations - add Community Kitchen to list. Need 4 veterans or families. Have 2 names but need 2 more.
State Council - not much discussed except Convention.

Honor Guard - 9/11 Ceremony, Marine Reunion at Landmark, Army Reunion at Umberto’s. Saturday - Stand Down in Aynor at Waccamaw Tribal Grounds. Tuesday - MOAA meeting.
AVVA - Sandy spoke. Talked about Convention…Project Friendship to Combat Female Families United is their project. Looking for a donation from the Chapter. Motion - $100. Approved.

Fundraising: Nov. 12 and Nov.13 at Walmart Neighborhood Store in Market Common

New Business: COVID Relief Grant….we got $1500. November 11 at Conway. Program at 11. Knights of Columbus will also attend. Gary will ask WMBF News to come. Convention on the Nov. 2nd. Attendees will need to bring DD-214’s. From Terry - VVA will be “Last Man Standing” now - new Chapters will only be required to only have 15.

Honor Guard - did ceremony at the Pelicans Ball park. Will do 9/11 ceremony at St. Michael’s Church in Garden City
AVVA - Sandy Steer will be voting member from our chapter at the Convention.
Chaplain - none
Fundraising: None. Sam’s said none for the rest of the year.
Old Business: Charles and Marilyn stepped down. Convention - Terry, Sandy, and Johnny are going.
New Business: Jerry Hearl gave a report on his health. Memorial Service in Conway for Veteran’s Day. Investigate cost of replacing wreaths. State Council sent $500 check to LA chapters. Rich filed paperwork for COVID Relief Funds for the chapter. Congressman Tom Rice was at Veteran’s Cafe and talked about the VA system and what needs to change. Rick talked about how he wants to privatize the VA system and a warning. Write to his office to reject privatization. Ralph, a retired VA doctor, spoke in support of the VA system and spoke of the underfunding. Equinox Ranch - new rehab facility for veterans. Preston Ingalls is looking to start a new chapter in Brunswick County. Veteran Cafe is temporarily shut down with Mash’s surgery. They want to open again soon but it will take volunteers. Vet Center is moving in near future. Will go to the old VA clinic temporarily. DAV will be doing service claims at the new VA clinic on every Monday 9 - 4:30. Terry spoke about Joe Galloway and his passing

Old Business: Parade was very good. Older folks stood for the flag. Monday was Conway ceremony for Memorial Day. Knights of Columbus participated also.
New Business: Last meeting until September. Bob McCann had pins made by a student in Sussex County, NJ. Pelicans are again doing the baseball card sets.
Terry Steer - State Council meeting this Sunday. Next to last before the convention. Johnny Gossett and Charles Davies are also going.

Honor Guard - no funerals since last month. Still doing MOAA meetings. Last week did reunion for Naval Aviation group at Georgetown Coast Guard station.

New Business: Bob McCann is now our new Treasurer. Jerry is dealing with health issues.
Parade is 29th. Starts 10:30 Be there early..near HGTech building. Bring your participation form
Camp Corral - motion to give them $300. Approved.
Memorial Day - May 31st. Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Conway. 11 AM and form up early.
Region 3 conference - Terry Steer and wife are going. Motion to assist $1200 approved
Next State Council meeting in June.

New Business: Military Appreciation Parade - May 29. Pelicans will do their Appreciation Night in July.

Terry - State Council - Zoom meetings…discussing the convention…date changed to November. He will be going to Greensboro and asked the chapter to help out with expenses.

Ron talked about the Agent Orange Orange Heart Memorial near Nashville, TN. Agent Orange Medal we can get from the State of TN
Chaplain - nothing new
Old Business: Slate of officers will stay the same as present. Nominations will still be accepted at the next meeting.
New Business: Look into Sam’s Club to see when we can get there for fundraising.
State Council - Chapter is covered under an umbrella policy for $10,000 liability.

Went thru the agenda and these are the only things to report.
Member Doug Layman is in the hospital for Covid 19. Doug also sent a check to the chapter for $450 from the Golf Outing on Veterans Day which he ran.
Jerry to check with Sams about any possibility of having a fund raiser.
State Delegate zoom meeting scheduled for Feb.14th.

Next state meeting is a zoom meeting on Feb. 14th.
Nat'l Convention will be held in Greensboro, NC August 10th - 14th
Counting new members, we had 12 VVA and 2 AVVA members in attendance.
